Someone recently asked for verses on which it is important to meditate when going through difficult times in marriage.
Above all, I would like to say it is so important that each spouse develops a real intimacy with God! So important! Too often we expect the spouse to meet all our needs and create a kind of co-dependent relationship from which God is excluded. It is extremely dangerous and leads sooner or later to destruction.
If you read this message when you are not married, I beg you, do not neglect this warning: Put the Lord at the center of your life and develop a true and deep intimacy with Him.
Now, I know that the majority of those who will read this message are already in trouble and I would like to tell you that it is late to apply the principles that the verses below highlight. Even if the situation seems desperate, all is not lost. And there is in the Word of God full of resources to encourage you as you pray for your marriage to be strengthened, restored. Take courage, because God still restores difficult marriages today and take a few minutes regularly to meditate on the following verses as you pray for the restoration of your wedding:
God is close to you
For the Lord is near to those who are brokenhearted. He saves those who have a dejected spirit. (Psalm 34:19, SEM)
The LORD is near all who call upon him, of all those who call on him with sincerity; (Psalm 145: 18)
God is with you
Do not be afraid, because I am with you; Do not look anxiously, for I am your God; I strengthen you, I come to your help, I support you with my triumphant right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
Thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob! Whoever formed you, O Israel! Fear nothing, for I redeem you, I call you by your name: you are mine! If you cross the waters, I will be with you; And the rivers, they will not overwhelm you; If you walk in the fire, you will not burn yourself, and the flame will not burn you. (Isaiah 43: 1-2)
God strengthen you
You have made us suffer many distress and misfortunes; but you will give us life, You will bring us up from the abysses of the earth. (Psalm 70:20, Sem)
These difficult times have an expiration date!
I believe, moreover, that there is no common measure between the sufferings of the present life and the glory which will be revealed in us. (Romans 8:18)
Do not let go!
Love covers everything: it suffers, endures and forgives. He knows how to go over the faults of others. To love is to trust the other person and to wait for the best of him, is to hope without weakening, without ever giving up. It's knowing how to wear everything, support everything. (1 Corinthians 13: 7, PVV)
Hope in God!
Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his goodness, (Psalms 33:18, RSV)
Hope in the Lord! Strengthen and strengthen your heart! Hope in the Lord! (Psalm 27:14, NIV)
I hope in the Lord, my soul hopes, And I wait for his promise. (Psalm 130: 5, NIV)
Keep silent before the Lord, and hope in him; Do not be angry with him who succeeds in his ways, against the man who overcomes his evil designs. (Psalm 37: 7, NIV)
Be good and understanding to each other. Forgive each other as God has forgiven you in Christ. (Ephesians 4:32, KJV)
Then Peter approached Jesus and asked him, "Lord, if my brother is guilty of me, how many times shall I forgive him? Shall I go up to seven times? No, answered Jesus, I do not tell you to go up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven times. (Matthew 18: 21-22, SEM)
Above all, make sure that your mutual love does not cool down. Remember that "love covers many mistakes". (1 Peter 4: 8, SEM)
Still, honor your spouse
Let each one respect the marriage and the spouses remain faithful to each other, for God will judge the debauchees and adulterers. (Hebrews 13: 4, SEM)
Remember your wishes
As for you, that every husband loves his wife like himself, and that every woman respects her husband. (Ephesians 5:33, SEM)
Entrust your marriage to God
Because nothing is impossible to God. (Luke 1:37, SEM)
But Jesus heard these words. He said to the head of the synagogue: Do not be afraid. Believe only! (Mark 5: 36, SEM)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rest on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3: 5, SEM)
Commend your lot to Jehovah, and trust him, and he will do it. (Psalm 37: 5, SEM)
Then all who trust in you will rejoice, they will rejoice forever, and you will protect them; You will be a subject of joy For those who love your name. (Psalm 5:11)
Be at peace
Do not worry about anything, but, in everything, expose your needs to God. Send him your prayers and petitions, and also thank him. Then the peace of God, which surpasses all that can be conceived, will keep your heart and your thought under the protection of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 4: 6-7)
I said, Jehovah is my good, which is why I rely on him. The Lord is full of goodness to those who trust him, to those who turn to him. It is good to wait in silence from the Lord for deliverance. (Lamentations 3: 24-26)
God will never leave you
I will not forsake you, and I will not forsake you. (Hebrews 13: 5)
God will restore your marriage
Yes, I compensate you for the years that the locusts, crickets, crickets and the flight of locusts have devoured my great army which I sent against you. You will eat to your fullness and you will praise the Lord your God, who accomplishes wonderful things for you, and never again will my people be ashamed. (Joel 2: 25-26)
And here is my prayer for you: Lord, God of heaven and earth, act in each of these marriages! Hear the screams and save. Thy kingdom come! Bring the hearts of each spouse back to you alone, and your divine order will be installed in our homes. In the name of Jesus ! May the arm of the enemy be broken in our families! That the back of the opponent is broken! May the works of the enemy, like straw, be consumed among our couples. Heal the hearts. Restore O God. May Your will be done in our marriages and may Your glory appear! May all those who seek you rejoice and rejoice in you! Let those who love Your salvation say unceasingly: Exalted be God! In the name of Jesus ! Amen Amen and Amen!
